Nov 29, 2012
(Nov. 29, 2012) North Adams Regional Hospital was honored with an “A” Hospital Safety Score byThe Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits. The A score was awarded in the latest update to the Hospital Safety ScoreSM, the A, B, C, D or F scores assigned to U.S. hospitals based on preventable medical errors, injuries accidents, and infections. The Hospital Safety Score was compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety and is designed to give the public information they can use to protect themselves and their families.
“This affirms our commitment to patients,” said Jennifer Rush, Senior Vice President for Patient Care. “Safety is the number one priority at this hospital. While we are proud of this measurable improvement, our continued focus is the overall health, safety and satisfaction of our patients and families.”
Rush said Leapfrog uses a broad-based scoring process. “Leapfrog looks at many aspects of our care, from the caregiver at the bedside to administrative elements,” Rush said. “An ‘A’ rating is the result of many people working together to improve safety and quality at NARH. We’re in good company with some of the top hospitals in Massachusetts.”
“Hospitals like this that earn an A have demonstrated their commitment to their patients and their community,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I congratulate North Adams Regional Hospital for its safety excellence, and look forward to the day when all hospitals will match this standard.”
